(NOTE: The basic reference to the program will be the small book due to F. Digne and J. Michel on Representations of Finite Groups of Lie type published by the London Math society)

  1. Basics of Algebraic Groups: Examples of classical groups, root space decomposition; theory of BN pairs, Bruhat decomposition, parabolic subgroups, intersection of parabolics.

      • Chapters from the Book: 0,1,2, 15.
  2. Rationality questions about algebraic groups, Root datum, classification of Tori, classification of reductive groups over finite fields; regular elements in Algebraic groups.
      • Lecturer : Shripad Garge
      • Chapters from the book : 3, 14 (up to 14.26).
  3. Parabolic induction
      • Lecturer: Rajan.
      • Chapters from the book: 4,5,6,7
  4. Alvis-Curtis duality, and the Steinberg representation; Gelfand-Graev representation, and its multiplicity freeness.
      • Lecturer: Raghavan.
      • Chapters from the book: 8,9, chapter 14 after 14.26.
  5. Green's work on GL(n).
      • Lecturer: Amritanshu Prasad
      • This will be directly from Green's paper in TAMS.
  6. Deligne-Lusztig Induction.
      • Lecturer: Dipendra Prasad
      • Chapters from the book: 11,12,13.
  • Besides the 6 lecturers there will be Unity of Mathematics Lectures by  NSN Sastry and  B. Sury
  • Tutorials will be conducted by  Maneesh Thakur and Amit Kulshrestha and others.

 

On the last 2 days, i.e. 16th and 17th, there will be a mini-conference.
